Betsy Kitchens

Master's Level Intern

Betsy Kitchens is a master’s-level counseling intern currently completing her graduate degree in counseling at Southern Methodist University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media and Communication Studies from Louisiana Tech University. Betsy brings strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit into her work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

In sessions, you’ll find Betsy to be warm, curious, and supportive. Her approach is grounded in a systemic perspective, which means she considers the full context of your life to better understand the patterns that may be impacting you today. This includes your relationships, environment, and past experiences. Whether you’re facing relational conflicts, experiencing depression or anxiety, navigating a life transition, or working through self-doubt and hardships, Betsy will walk alongside you with compassion and care. She is trained in NeurOptimal® neurofeedback and Safe Conversations® and is a certified facilitator for Prepare & Enrich®, offering valuable support to pre-engagement, pre-marital, and seasoned couples looking to deepen connection and communication.

Betsy is especially passionate about helping you build self-confidence, develop emotional boundaries that reflect your authentic self, instill healthier coping strategies, and strengthen your relationships not only with those who are important to you but with yourself.

With Betsy, therapy is a space where you can feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow. She believes that healing starts from within, enriching your life and connections with others.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” health care providers are required to give clients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance an estimate of the bill for health care items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) showing costs of items and services you can reasonably expect for your health care needs. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill.

  • You may contact the health care provider listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the GFE. You may ask them to update the bill to match the GFE, negotiate the bill, or ask if financial assistance is available.
  • You may start a dispute resolution process with the U.S.Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on the original bill.
