Madelyn Lang

Master's Level Intern

Hi, my name is Madelyn Lang, and I am a graduate student in the counseling program at Southern Methodist University, working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor with a concentration in trauma. Additionally, I am a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Registered Yoga Teacher.

I believe therapy is a collaborative, compassionate space where you can feel safe, seen, and empowered to explore your experiences at your own pace. I emphasize a trauma-informed approach that honors each person’s uniqueness and recognizes how past experiences shape how we understand and respond to ourselves and the world. Rather than focusing exclusively on what may need to be fixed or “wrong,” I work with you to understand how you have adapted and developed strategies to protect yourself. I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my work, which views a person as made up of various “parts” that each have their own needs, feelings, experiences, and roles to help protect you. My role as a counselor is to approach these parts with you through curiosity and compassion, rather than judgment, to cultivate space for a deeper understanding of yourself and to develop greater self-trust and connection. I believe that even the parts of us that may feel difficult, overwhelming, and self-defeating often developed for a purpose.

My goal is to foster a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, respected, and in control of your own healing. My intention is to meet you where you are and work alongside you to develop emotional awareness, a stronger connection to your inner world, and greater self-empathy to help you access yourself.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” health care providers are required to give clients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance an estimate of the bill for health care items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) showing costs of items and services you can reasonably expect for your health care needs. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill.

  • You may contact the health care provider listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the GFE. You may ask them to update the bill to match the GFE, negotiate the bill, or ask if financial assistance is available.
  • You may start a dispute resolution process with the U.S.Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on the original bill.
