Sarah Eck

Master's Level Intern

Sarah Eck is currently a master’s-level counseling intern completing her graduate degree in counseling at Southern Methodist University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri. Sarah’s counseling skills are complemented by more than 20 years of experience in marketing, where she focused on human buying behavior—what motivates us, what we need, and how we make decisions. Her counseling work is also informed by her lived experience with infertility, parenting twins conceived through assisted reproductive technology, and her journey as a breast cancer survivor.

Sarah believes that life’s most difficult challenges affect not only individuals, but also relationships and families as a whole. In session, her goal is to help clients and their loved ones move from feeling stuck and disconnected during hard seasons to experiencing genuine understanding, stronger bonds, and renewed hope for the path ahead. Sarah specializes in supporting overwhelmed couples, families, and adults as they work through challenges related to illness, infertility, menopause, and other major life stressors. Her work helps clients develop deeper understanding of one another while building the communication and coping skills needed to navigate difficult times. Additional areas of emphasis include grief, anxiety, caregiver support, sex and intimacy, and life transitions.

Sarah’s approach to counseling is collaborative, thoughtful, relationship-focused, and tailored to each client’s unique situation. She is committed to fostering mutual understanding, building resilience, developing practical coping skills for daily life, opening new and authentic ways of communicating, and helping clients create the closeness and connection they have been missing.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” health care providers are required to give clients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance an estimate of the bill for health care items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) showing costs of items and services you can reasonably expect for your health care needs. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill.

  • You may contact the health care provider listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the GFE. You may ask them to update the bill to match the GFE, negotiate the bill, or ask if financial assistance is available.
  • You may start a dispute resolution process with the U.S.Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on the original bill.
